Dogs in the heat.
Summer time has finally arrived and with that rising temperatures. So we have to be mindful of our furry friends. Starting with keeping them cool at home, we have cool mats for both Rosie and Taxi. Rosie’s third water bowl for the summer is designed to keep the water cooler that the other bowls. We also keep the rooms they are primarily in, shaded and ventilated.
A quick Google search says temperatures up to 19c are safe however when it reaches just a degree hotter at 20c that’s when a dog can be at risk of heat stroke and of course the pavements maybe too hot for their paws. I also learnt this summer, that older dogs like Rosie who is eleven, can be more a trisk of heat stroke so we have to be very careful. So during this time I will either get up earlier than normal and walk her or walk her later at night. Judging by all the other dog walkers at these times we all have the same idea!
Happy Summer !
