Government issues alert for people walking their dogs in winter

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs have issued guidance for dog walkers taking their pooches out during periods of extreme cold. Labour MP Dame Angela Eagle urged people to read up on the laws and rules they need to be complying with.
She wrote: “Anyone who walks dogs is required to comply with the Animal Welfare Act 2006 which requires individuals in control of animals to protect them from unnecessary suffering, and to provide for their welfare needs.
