Pet First Aid Kit: At minimum, this should include antiseptic wipes, self-adhesive bandages (that don’t stick to fur), and tweezers for tick removal.2
Slip Lead: This is a “backup” leash. If a collar snaps or a dog slips their harness, a slip lead can be thrown on quickly to secure them.
Safety Lights/Reflective Gear: If you’re walking at dawn or dusk, clip a LED light to the dog’s harness and wear a reflective vest or armband yourself.
Carabiners: These are great for temporarily securing a leash to a post or clipping multiple leashes together in a pinch.
The “Pro” Extras
Extra Towel – For the inevitable muddy paws before they jump back in the car or house.
Pet-Safe Wet Wipes – Great for cleaning up “messes” that bags can’t quite handle.
Air Horn or Pet Corrector – To distract off-leash dogs that might approach your pack aggressively.
Portable Charger – Using GPS tracking apps (like Rover or Wag) drains phone battery fast.
